I just use a king size black sheet. I spritz it with a little water and toss it in the dryer for about 10 minutes before use. Pretty cheap.

Keep the camera about 8 to 10 feet from the subject. Keep the subject at least 6 feet from the background. Use a fairly wide aperture (small f-stop number) and you'll have the background blurred, minimizing the effect of any creases or wrinkles.

Keep your lights OFF of the background, and it will show up as black. That, too, will eliminate seeing any blemishes in the background. This means that you cannot afford any uncontrolled spillover of your lighting. Example: Using a shoot-through umbrella would generally be a no-no because the light bouncing back from the umbrella would then bounce all over the room and illuminate the background more than you want it to be.

Even white can photograph as black?

Same white background - different looks (http://www.zarias.com/?p=70)

The dryer is what gets the wrinkles out. :)

Wow free shiping on that too. It must fold up pretty small for that!

Some folks use a gray backdrop and light it for white or gray or move their subject and lights out some for black.
