I have been shopping around for a new camera for a while, and I'm stumped on what I should get. Well, what I SHOULD get isn't the question, but what will make me happiest is the question. I tend to overbuy on everything I get and so I'm wondering if this will be the same issue.

The choice is between a 20D and a 350D. I have the money for the 350D now, but I won't have the money for the 20D for another 2 weeks to a month. I plan on spending some serious time taking pictures, and I just don't want to regret buying the 350D. I have played around with both, and I like the feel of the 20D much more.

What should I get???

Also, I'm selling 2 guitars if anyone is interested. This money would be put straight into the camera/additional equipment. So, if you, or anyone you know is looking for some high quality guitars, they are as follows:
Ibanez BTB-405QM Transparent black 5 string bass guitar(w/hardshell case) List - 700$ make your offer
ESP KH-2 Kirk Hammet (Metallica) Signature series guitar(w/hardshell case). lists for 2400$(make your offer)

if you know a better place to post the info on selling those guitars, it'd be greatly appreciated. 50$ of each sale will go to anyone who helps me sell one of these guitars, if you purchase the guitar, shipping will be free.

Well, I think you already did answer your own question. You like the feel of the 20D better, then you should get it. Honestly, what's a few more weeks??

I've got small hands and I have felt both too and found the 350D sit well in my hands, but I know not many likes it's size and the grip. So... even if the 350D is a great camera and gives you great images, you *will* regret that you didn't waited those extra weeks or months to be able to afford the camera that "feels good".

So, get the 20D and sit on your hands until you can afford it, cuz I know how hard it is when that "I want one now" bug hits you. :D

I have the 300D. When the 350D came out, I was like "OMG I gotta have it, it's SO great!" However when we went to look at it, and I held it, I was immediatly put off buy its weight and feel. When I held the 20D I could not believe the difference, it was awesome... I decided that I wasn't going to put my money for a 350D no matter what. I'd rather stick with my 300D for another year if I have to till I save up enough for the 20D. I know, I am going to wait, no question about it. In fact, if the 350D was my ONLY alternative to upgrading my camera, I just wouldn't do it at all. That is a very uncomfortable camera to me. If you don't like the feel of it, you won't want to use it, and how many shots would you lose then?
As for the guitars, can you post an ad at you local music store or put them on consignment? I'd say ebay but then you might get ripped off, I've heard bad things on high dollar item sales on there.

I have attempted to sell at the local music stores. I would return a few days later, to find my ads completely missing. I asked the owner of 3 out of the 5 stores, and they said that I cannot advertise in their store. If I want to sell it, they will sell it but then then want 25% of the profits, which 25% on a 2400$ guitar is far more than they deserve. Especially for ripping my ads down. :(

Anyway, I made a thread based on this sale alone:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=72083

Edit: Oh, 25% was the LOWEST that any of the stores would take. 1 of the stores actually stated they would not allow me to advertise for less than 50% of the profits.

I faced a similar situation. I really liked the reviews on the new DRebel XT (350D) and when my budget finally allowed, I thought about getting that camera. But I had been looking longingly at the 20D for quite some time (since I first saw it announced last fall) and looked very carefully at both cameras. Comparing every aspect of both cameras, there are certainly many similarities, but in about every case, the 20D was just a bit better - faster continuous shooting mode, longer burst sequence, 9 vs. 7 autofocus zones, autofocus under lower light levels, faster autofocus, etc. (see http://bobatkins.photo.net/photography/digital/eos_digital_rebel_xt_vs_20d.html#better for a comparison if you haven't already). While the XT is lighter and smaller, it was also rated for a smaller number of shutter cycles and shorter battery life. The XT is probably 70% of the 20D - which is a pretty darn good camera, mind you! But I saw myself a year from now thinking "I should have gotten the 20D", so I decided to spend the extra $500 and get it now instead. I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying my 20D yet, since I just ordered it and it should be here next week, but if it does what I think it can do, I'm going to be a very happy camper.

Don't know much about guitars, though.....

I got the 300D and looking forward to the 20D. The 20D is the next level up and definititely a better camera. If you feel you will be serious about photography 20D an excellent start. If I had the option when I bought the 300D I would've bought the 20D no questions ask but the 20D wasn't

Always buy the best that you can afford and you will not be disappointed.

Yeah. I was THIIIIISSSS close to buying the 350D last night and just saying the hell with it... no. I'm getting the 20D. I like it too much. I've posted free ads where I could for the guitars, so hopefully I'll be able to get rid of one of those, if not, I'll have my new 20D anyway in about 2-4 weeks.

I hope so! I really want it... like... NOW!

The thing is, my brother owes me 1000$, and he said he has some paypal credit thing that allows him to use 700$ credit too... but right now, if I was to order it I would only have about 1400$ cause he doesn't have all my money in there yet, but he said I can use his credit as long as I make the payments on time. So If I was to order it now, I wouldn't be able to get a decent sized memory card. :( So I'm stuck waiting until I get paid grrrrr.

Well, I just posted the ESP on there. Hopefully I get a response. I had never heard of Craigslist until now. In fact, the name 'craig' creeps me out because I knew a pedophile while growing up named craig. He smelled funny.

what about ebay?

what about ebay?

Ebay fees would be a fortune, I'd get jacked on a fraction of the price. I'm trying to actually get the most out of this. Ebay is a last resort. I tend to avoid Ebay at all costs. As great as people thing it is, there is always a better solution.
