Finally got some shots I liked....Fish

This was my third attempt at capturing some of the fish in my saltwater aquarium. It was always light problems before. Flash in the glass of the aquarium, direct sun on the front causing bad glare, etc. But tonight I waited until after dark and set up across the room at an angle to the tank. I used my 20D with a 70-200mm F/4.0L at F/5.6 and 1/250 sec along with my 580EX flash. Finally got a few pictures that I liked. Should fish be this hard to capture??

Excellent shots. Shooting through glass is always a problem for me. I always seem to have the same problems as you

Beautiful. I never tried a flash with an aquarium. Sounds problematical, as you say.

Excellent shots! Aquariums are a real challenge. Went to Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies last year and shot a bunch, but, only got a few keepers. Thanks for sharing.

I've got to believe shooting thru an aquarium is not easy. Very nice shots..and pretty fish.

IME shooting my aquarium is better used with no flash and a tripod. Often times the aquarium lights are plenty bright so a flash isn't needed. Good pics of your flame and bicolor though.

Great photos, lovely fish. There was a comet goldfish posted here a while ago, try searching for it, that guy gave good instructions for shooting fish. But you have done a great job anyway.
