You were obviously in the right place at the right time. I think the second photo is great. I know in Scotland Osprey nests were often wrecked by winds because they were so exposed. Have you seen this nest used before & if yes, was it successful?

This is a new nest, built to replace one that blew down when the snag snapped. It's about 1/4 of a mile from the old site. Comparing photo's from last year and this year, it is the same pair that have sucessfully reproduced during the last few years. Will be interesting to see if this nest is as productive...
I just got my Canon ZR70 Camcorder to work with my spotting scope, which means I now have a digital camcorder with the basic equivelent of a 1000mm lens. I plan to test the system out on the Ospreys this weekend, and if it works, then I hope to come home from Yellowstone at the end of this month with video footage of the wolf pups. The Slough Creek pack produced 15 pups this spring between four females. It's also the first time that four wolves have been documented sharing the same den.

Good shots, Dave. It seems to me that osprey nests are very well built and last forever. As you said, the support may be the first to go, like a snag or entire tree being broken off in a storm. Good luck with the wolf project in YNP.
