View Full Version : Another first try at HDR - Chicago Skyline

Have been looking to try HDR for a while and finally purchased Photomatix and went out to look for some interesting shots. After a few hundred shots in 2 days and hours of exploring tone-mapping in Photomatix I selected the following image as the best of the bunch.

The sun is blown-out, but I think it adds that eerie apocalyptic feel to the shot.

Would love to hear some comments and critiques, as I am always looking to learn.

Thank you, Babekha! As with anything else, I hope that with time my ratio of discarded HDR photos to the ones I'm not afraid to show will decrease :)

This was shot with my 5D @24mm using 24-105L glass on a tripod. ISO: 160, 3 images at +-2 EV.

Would have to look through my notes to tell you what PhotoMatix settings I used.

Very nice! I decided to try my hand at HDR of my car and incorporate it into a video. I'm happy with the end product. Some street art helps it quite a bit ;-)
