Need new film scanner

My Minolta Dualscan 4 just died on me. Stopped in the middle of a scan and won't power back on so it's dead.

So I need to buy a new film scanner since about 90% of what I shoot these days is film. My budget is as reasonable as possible, I liked the price of my Minolta that was $225 and it should be at least 3200dpi. And no Pacific Imaging recommendations please and dedicated film scanner only - no flatbeds.

Any suggestions?

Not easy these days, as during the past year, Nikon discontinued its cheapest offering, the Coolscan V ED, which was about US$500. However, some still might be in stock, and there is always the used or demo route.

I had try to buy a Minolta scanner awhile back but never could find a deal for myself. I ended up buying an Epson flat bed scanner. I've been slammed before for mentioning it and will probably get slammed again but I like it. Scans of my old negatives and slides have been fine for me. However from what I've seen other forum posters is that the dualscan was better than the coolscan and people tell me the coolscan is better than my scanner.

btw... what is a dashiki?
