8th of July 2009 (Wed), 19:20
Mr. Kitty passed away last night with the rising moon. He went peacefully in his sleep after a long cat nap. He spent his final days enjoying the Sunshine and hanging out with Miss Lilly his dog. He was 17 years old and lived a good cat life.

So sorry for your loss. It's funny how you get to 17 years and you start believing a beloved friend will be there forever... and then suddenly he's gone. <virtual hugs>

Not at this time I want to travel more and getting another cat would be a long commitment. I am not sure I could find another cat that would like my dog sooooo much so I am giving her some extra attention and long walks. I have some road trips planned that I can bring my dog along.

From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a cat" or "That's a lot of money for just a cat". They don't understand the distance traveled, time spend or costs involved for "just a cat". Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a cat". Many hours have passed with my only company being "just a cat" and not once have I felt slighted. Some of my saddest moments were brought about by "just a cat". In those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a cat" provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.
If you too think its "just a cat," you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend", "just a sunrise", or "just a promise." "Just a cat" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure unbridled joy. "Just a cat" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "just a cat", I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
For me and folks like me, it's not "just a cat". It's an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a cat" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday people can understand it's not "Just a cat". It's the thing that give me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man or woman".
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a cat," smile because they "just don't understand."

Sorry for your loss. At 17 he had a good life even though we always wish they would live longer. He also went peacefully during his sleep which is a great way to go.
