I'm not sure its a firefly... It's too big, I think...
As for the dung beetle - isn't he too small? Plus the colour? :) And I've never seen a dung beetle on a leaf - always on the ground... As for the last... Don't know...

Thanks for the comment, though, I appreciate it :):D

thanks you too as I wasn't too sure
especially the firefly
but I have a picture showing one very like yours and I wondered about it.
says it's a firefly. I don't know them well
it does not look like any kind of fly

the middle fellow........ I took a picture of one very like it myself
and you are right, he was on the ground in the mountains
he could be bloody nosed beetle but I think it's a dung

other then all that...they are beautiful shots
after the rain the colour is always vibrant

very healthy looking leaves

I scanned this in
it is a tiny book and I didn't scan the page in well

forgot to say it's a beetle firefly which I was thinking your picture may be

probably different to the fireflies we usually know of http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif although I never saw one over here

this one is
size : 10 to 12 mm

from the little information :
'look for the cream 'lamp' under the tip of the abdomen
both sexes have wings but only the male flies

he sends out a silvery-green flash about once every second after dusk and a lot of fireflies flying together create a beautiful sight
the female sits on the grass and flashes a reply
when she spots a male over head
the larvae feed on snails but the adults do not feed '

habitat :
grassland scrub vineyards and gardens
range : s europe . but only to the east of the river rhóne
??

season : april to july

Hey, all I know is that they are bugs, and you made them look good. Lots of green. . . . I like.

Stunning shots. I would have called the last one a wasp, the Dragon Flies we have look a bit like a helicopter ..well the body shape, not the wings. I think if I could take photos like those I'd be happy with the camera I had. Brilliant.

Thanks :) :D

And who says I'm not happy with my cammera? :D I am.. dont get me wrong. I just want something better :P

The third insect looks like a Crane fly (Tipala spp. ) Definitely not a dragonfly as they have two sets of wings held straight out from their sides when at rest. Nice shots !

Yes, I think that's the one! Thank you very much for the info, Reigh, and for the nice words for the shots :D

These are pretty decent! I like number one, and number two would be my favorite, if only you could edit out that huge stick in the way. And maybe also the blurred leaf in the right foreground.

very nice Vesselin! :D
I like very much the first one.

And in the last one ( from the first post ) I think it's a kind of mosqito. ;) Thei are pretty usual around here too, especially in the woods area.

I get a lot of something very similar to that third one in my room in the summer, they seem to have a very unfortunate attraction to the rather large, extremely fast, external fans cooling my computers.

Awesome shots. I think the last one is a crane fly.
