Using smudge, paint brush, sponge, dodge, and burn... plus a good bit of patience. ;)

I LOVE the original! The "painted" version is very well done though. :)

I think you did a great job!! How long did this take you? Did you follow a tutorial or just figure it out on your own? I'd love to do this to some of my daughter's photos!!!

Your first one? Well you, sir/miss, are a talented artist and great with PS.
Makes me wish I was born creative. :)
Looks like you lost a little bit of 3D dept with the right side of the bow, a little more shading could fix that and separate the two pieces more. Also, wouldn't hurt to take a bit of that yellow out of her teeth. I am just saying, you did such a great job but soon as I see her teeth I am wondering why are they so yellow? Even if that the way they are naturally why carry it over into the painting when it is so easy to lighten them up a bit. Just my two cents worth.

BigAlz1,
Yes, this was my first go at it. It was a learning process and will be for some time I am sure. You are creative, you just don't know it. LOL! Yeah, good catch on the teeth. You should give it a try. Show us your creativity!

Did you follow a tutorial? If so could you please provide the source. Thanks :) There are several tutorials on the Internet that are free and have brushes as well... Just do a search on smudge painting.
