I ran across this today and was wondering what your opinions were. I am just geting back into photography with my wife and we hope to start a small business in time. Nothing big, just ball teams and small stuff like that for starters. I run a cabinet shop now and know how stresfull the business side of things can be. Is this one of thoes to good to be true kind of things, or are there several of you building your web-sites around support companies like this?
Thanks
Wes

Exposure Manager is perfect for event/sports photography. I've been using them for about 7 months and love them. Their fulfillment method is great and they offer great products and the prints come out spectacular.

I switched from Zenfolio to ExposureManager. It's worked out great so far. I still haven't gotten around to customizing it to my look, but I'm still getting orders, so the impact is little if any. It makes it easy. I have a Display Only workflow which allows me to upload proofs really fast and then only "work" on the images that get ordered. I use the Event package.
I'm not sure if it still works, but when I signed up, you could use coupon code photographyblog for 25% off. http://www.exposuremanager.com/aff/jacuff (And the obligatory affiliate link.)

How does customer payment work? I was somewhat unclear after reading that part. If the customer orders online who is the payment made out to?
Also can some of you post a link to your Exposure Manager sight for me to look at?

Customer payment is made out to Exposure Manager. For city/county tax purposes... the sales on EM don't count against your gross receipts. Also, unless the customer lives in CA, sales tax isn't charged. (Don't know about TX, but that's where I've seen the canvas prints come from.)
EM cuts checks monthly and quarterly. This is the only thing I don't like about them. There is no direct deposit currently and you have to wait for the next billing cycle to get paid by check.
If you have a balance of $100 or more, they cut a check the next monthly billing cycle.
If you have a balance of more than $25 but less than $100, they cut a check the next quarterly billing cycle.
You can change the minimum amount of $100 down to $25 and they will those checks monthly, but take a $3 processing fee I believe.
I have always fallen into a balance of $0 or more than $100, so I don't have any experience with less than $25 or less than $100.
I don't have much up, but here's a link to an uncustomized gallery using the default sales template.
