Thought I would try something a little different prior to getting standard action and stock shots and left my wide angle on the camera for a bit to shoot some pre-game warm ups and festivities. Let me know what you think. These are obviously more "documentary" photos rather than stock action, but I needed to look for something new. Full series at www.cjscons.com/seals/jun9

I see potential in 3, 4, & 8 but the rest have too much dead space for me. Take that wide angle and move in closer.

It's a different look at baseball, that's for sure. I'd have really used the wide angle more as ChunkyDA suggested.

The middle guy in #1 is a bit odd....especially with the background between his legs.

Wide angle for this kinda stuff is different.

How do you number and post comments above each photograph? Are you hosting the photos on another site and that is how you can do it?

Mike:

Yes that is the way. Just type your message and the number in the messaging text window and then provide the UBB code for the URL for the image.

the wide does not give me the wide feeling, it looks like someone just took snap shots of those images and I've seen your work here.

IMHO, for wide, you got to go "wide wide" or "low n wide" or "up close and personal wide"

Thanks! All good comments. I think I was a bit intimidated about getting too close (esp plate meeting and anthems) and my 1.6 crop on 40D turns my 17mm wide into a 24mm wide so I DO need to get closer and stay zoomed out to maximize wide angle effect. Lessons learned for next game!

I'm kinda liking them.. especially the ones with the beautiful blue sky.
