Can anyone tell me the uses of each? I know the cloud is for warmer shots? But can anyone give me a run down? The website isnt clear and the videos do not help much. Thanks!

The clear makes a good fish bowl.

Just kidding (not really) Both have a very narrow range of use, but do rather well in that narrow space. Such as in the example they advertise with in print. If you are shooting in a stairwell they can bounce the light off of everything and make a nice image. Or like in the video, a narrow hall way, But get in a normal room and the effect evaporates.

My suggestion is to pass on them. You will use them 1 or 2 times then it will sit in the closet till you throw it away. If you really, really want one, you can get an exact copy for $16 on dealextreem.

gary fong lightspheres are useful for short focal shots for events. if you are within 5 feet of them, you will get a contrasty effect which is what mark has pointed out. if you have a wide angle lens, and like to shoot up close, then do get a lightsphere. for everything else, use a DIY foam diffuser. =D

Is it dealextreme.com? Do you have a direct link? Thanks!

Yes Dealextreme. But it looks like they do not carry it any more. It was an exact knock-off for only $16.99

I shoot a lot of events where pro's are in attendance. I have never, ever, seen one of them with a contraption on their flash (yes many have flashes mounted). What you do see, a lot, are those $5 slip on plastic diffusers that covers the flash head opening.
