Okay, maybe not my first pictures ever , but my first attempt at taking something other than a snap shot, and they are my first pictures with my new camera (Panasonic Lumix FZ20).
Bird - f5.6 1/800 ISO 80
Rough Day - f5.6 1/320 sec ISO 80
Any comments or critiques on what I may have done (or could still do) to make these beter would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Good Vacation shots! Not sure what you were after on the second shot? -- I would have attempted fram out the railing - would have enabled you to focus more on the gull!

RE: Rough Day -- very nice "pose". a little blown out upper left, maybe get camera down more on "model's" level.
RE: Bird -- Normally bird should look into, not out of frame. Birds are often not very cooperative. Could the photographer have moved to the right some?
Good ideas, and they are certainly not a bad start with the new camera.
RE: New Camera -- have you mis-spelled Canon? :lol:

Thank you for the comments, I could have moved to the right some on the bird shot, I will do so next time.
Oh, and I wish I were on vacation! I actually live where these were taken (Clearwater Beach, FL). And I didn't pose the girl, I don't even know her, I just saw her laying there while standing on the pier and thought it would make a nice picture. I took several of her, but this was my favorite.
I need to get a spell checker, I always have trouble with "Canon". Sorry...;-}
Thanks again, ya'll.

I actually like the second one best, it's as if the gull is watching all the beach go-ers.

I think the title on the bird shot should be 'Picking My Target'...
