View Full Version : converting from RAW (CR2) to PNG on a mac?

Does anyone know how to do this?

I would like to take advantage of PNG since the compression is lossless and it has a greater color depth than JPEG.

I see that Preview can now (with Tiger) open Canon RAW files. Also iPhoto 5 can do it, but I was not able to save them to PNG. In the new Preview the option to save as PNG exists, but this caused an error. As far as I know, no conversion tools exist in iPhoto.

Are there any third party applications? Ideally I would figure out a way to do this with Automator, but I haven't been able to yet.

I use PS CS2 for everything, i've not found anything that it can't do yet - well, except noise reduction, I use noise ninja for that.

yes, the new features in photoshop CS2 solved all of my problems! it works very well with canon RAW files, and the new HDR feature is really cool
