I have eventually returned the dreaded PL 130m OpticStar guide camera kit for a full refund as it was a piece of junk and sourced myself a brand new QHY5 guide camera for 1/2 price :)

Also took delivery of some guidescope rings so that I can acurrately align everything up and if need be move the guidescope a bit to find a guide star.

So look out everyone, the pictures will start coming soon now I have my observatory finished with rolling roof. 10 mins and I am taking pictures instead of an hour or more of setup and polar aligning etc etc.

Happy bunny I am :)

Having the room for an observatory would be my dream...I simply don't bother trying to take pictures anymore because of the long setup time each night. Kind of gone of it all I suppose.

Look forward to seeing more of your shots. :)

The QHY is a much better bet than the Optic Star and should work out of the box with PHD guiding. Beware guidescope rings as it is very easy to leave one nut untight and have an evening of head scratching while your guiding goes mad. I now lock everything down as tight as I dare and have never found unable to gain a suitable guidestar.

Picture of NGC 7000 up there too now. Used it to full potential tonight with maximum of 15mins guiding on 1 sub. Total guiding tonight was over 2.5 hours non stop.
