Wow, this is great. Nice work on this. Great catchlights in the eyes and nice lighting overall. Love the color combination in the clothing. Two things I would suggest is to move your wife's hands to frame her face, maybe resting her face in her hands sort of thing. I think that always works well to focus attention. I would also recommend a higher cut shirt for your wife. I have to admit, I was a little distracted !

Thanks for the comments.
I actually have the hands framing face shot (kind of - they're both doing it).
I didn't really notice the shirt - it's not actually particularly low cut, I guess it's just this combination of pose and shooting position. Still, what can I say? I like it! :-)

There were 2 large softboxes in front of the subject, one either side. Both were set for f/8 or so. Two further lights on the background a couple of stops higher.
The image was taken with a 5D and a Canon EF 28-70 f/2.8 L @ 63mm, ISO 100, 1/160 and f8. It was shot RAW and converted via DxO Optics and ACR.
Glad you like!

Beautifully done! Great lighting and exposure! Cute posing as well.
As mentioned above, I have to admit even I was distracted! I also don't like seeing the bits of her leg and foot. All or nothing for me.

Thanks! I'd had this pose in mind for a while.

OK, I 'm surprised at the mentions this is getting but I suppose I'll have to bear it in mind in future.

It's a fair point with regard to the image, although I'd always envisaged this pose as forming a kind of 'X' on the floor...which the leg/foot forms part of. I do see your point though.
More pragmatically, you don't get to hang around too much and finesse posing when one of your subjects is your own 3 year old!
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

hmm- I'll admit the shirt could be the right choice, or the wrong one, depending on the mood you are trying to get across. Maybe for family, not the right shirt. the lighting might be a bit flat though; I'd set one of the boxes a bit lower for a little shadow and contrast. They could almost be pasted into the white BG.

Keep in mind, this is the Family and kids section, not people or G&N.

Thanks for the comments on lighting.
Re outfit; fair enough, I hardly see it as a G&N outfit though. I'll remove the pic.

well, you didn't have to go that far but it's your's to post or remove. I'm just saying a shot down the blouse is generally not a family image. I personally like when my wife wears clothes like that for pictures.

It's ok. I just don't wish to cause offence...as I said above it's just a regular blouse/top but the pose/shooting angle combined to give the effect discussed.

well, you didn't offend me, so please don't take it down on my account. Your wife was comfortable enough to pose for you and allow you to put it in a public forum. Kudos for that and maybe reconsider posting it so others may also learn.
