How about a Rover V8 powered MGB? I wonder how it corners at speed?

Looks like Elvis still has that nasty bladder problem!

A Cobra with a handicapped sticker? And an automatic transmission?
Don't be fooled. While he doesn't have a foot for the clutch, it will turns mid 9's if you properly warm up the tires.

Not your every day Cross Ram manifold. Notice that it's not one piece? They found that by opening up the balance tube to 10 square inches, they could improve the mid range power.

Then some sneaky devil found a way to make it port-injected in a way that you couldn't see it:

How about that! A '71 Charger SE Hemi with factory air? It wasn't an option with the hemi. (http://books.google.com/books?id=21DCYEt7ih0C&pg=PA60&lpg=PA60&dq=Charger+Hemi++%22Air+Conditioned%22&source=bl&ots=46GEDaDehO&sig=%20%20eDhO0D3sNPohQCbKLs3krx0Y-40&hl=en&ei=BKhYSqKtMJXaNezdzLkB&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1) I'll bet that there weren't a dozen of those built in the '70s & they were slipped into the production line by a Chrysler worker who wanted something unique. Or maybe it was added by the owner who did a great job of making it look like a factory install.

I'd prefer it without the period flames, but this sleeper is one of my all-time favorites... the lowly Valiant 6-cylinder that your Grandmother drove.
Wait! What's that hiding next to the carb? This one turns mid 12 Seconds on pump gas.
Butch says it isn't built up even close to the limit & it dynos 315 bhp. The rear end is only a 3.23.
Twelves are not too shabby for a mild build Slant Six that gets 28 mpg around town! Grandma would have wanted bungee cords for her hair net! :D

Properly build, these would turn 8,000 rpm & deliver high 9's at over 130Mph.

i've seen a honda powered MG GT before... i think. A couple years ago I posted a Bugeye Sprite with a small block Chevy in it! No way would I want to corner that at over 20 mph! The MGB is an MGC http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgc.html Thanks for the info & link. I had no idea that it wasn't an owner conversion.

And, thanks for the comments, too!

Just thought I'd throw in on the MG, as I think it's an MGB GT V8 of the mid 70's. And they handle ok, well until it gets wet then your all over the place.

One of the things I do miss about Michigan...

Despite the woes of the auto industry, people there still appreciate automobiles and are still capable of some quality backwoods engineering.

We're too close to LA in PHX. People only see cars as mobile bathrooms, reading rooms or iPods with wheels.

Clears throat! The #1 image looks like a modded MGB i.e. it has the Rover V8 fitted like the later RV8 but the MGC had a straight 6 not a V block.

You are right not many MGC's made but very recognisable by the hump in the bonnet, many years ago a colleague had one that was his pride & joy and I remarked on the cracked windscreen ~ this if I recall was at the time commonish as the 6 cylinder unit stressed the body somewhat, now was that an old wives tale, no idea but a ride in it confirmed that she had plenty of power for weight of the body :)

Despite the woes of the auto industry, people there still appreciate automobiles and are still capable of some quality backwoods engineering. I appreciate what some on these guys can do in their garage. Others just write a check & say, "Build be a show winner." At least they've resurrected a rust bucket, but just how many $20 trophies do you need? I still have some in the original, unopened boxes from racing. Clears throat! The #1 image looks like a modded MGB... Thanks for the MG details. While I had a Judson charged "A" for a while, my primary concern back then was to keep that marquee in my rear view mirrors. :D

I'm probably way off the reservation but I think this is the "offending" accessory in question (A/C Condensor Coil?)

Im stumped on #5, help?? Just below the air cleaner & to the left of the rocker cover you'll see a pulley connected to the air conditioning compressor.

Funny. When you posted that, I looked and looked, and couldn't figure out what you were talking about. I did think it was unusual to have THAT engine with factory air, but it's such a neat installation, I passed right over it and was looking for something less obvious.

I gave you guys a clue in the following shot? ;) I did think it was unusual to have THAT engine with factory air, but it's such a neat installation, I passed right over it and was looking for something less obvious. Standing there looking at it, I had this nagging feeling that something was wrong. Then it hit me. Someday I'll find out if it was an under the table factory install.

Well, there's nothing wrong with going fast in cool comfort.

I'm sure the engine can handle that extra weight

Well, there's nothing wrong with going fast in cool comfort. I agree. If it were mine, (Slim chance!), I'd keep the air on.
