For the past few months I have been working on an under car rig setup. I chose this for multiple reasons, they are easier to clone out, give more options for different shots, and I just don't feel comfortable putting suction cups on someones car. My question is.. does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this thing more stable. It is pretty bouncy more than likely due to the 1 1/4" RMC tubing I'm using. I've got cable to act as a support but doesn't seem to do the trick. Maybe I'm using it wrong. I've been tossing around the idea of using a super clamp mounted to a monopod that I will connect to a caster w/ a super cushioned tire (for minimal vibration) to mount at the end and keep it from moving. Any ideas guys?? I'd really like to put the other 4 ft of tubing on there. Thanks guys.

Here's a pic of the rig. (Don't judge the photo quality. lol. It's just a test shot and I used one of those gorillapod things because I don't have my magic arm yet. lol)

Yes. I've prolly read 80% of that thread. There is not a whole lot of people using the under car setup and if they are it's probably from automotiverigs.com.

I think you answered your own question.

The rig needs to be rigid, or your going to get camera movement, and that means light weight, high quality tube.

don't get me wrong, i have an suction cup rig.. honestly after using it for 2 months i find it pretty easier to clone the rig out... under car rig is good for some reason for sure.. but most of the cars that i shoot are pretty slammed.

how fast are you going? i get very stable shots by pushing the car on neutral instead of driving.

Yea the slammed thing is going to be a problem for sure. Just got my ND filter in the mail today. No driving... just pushing. Driving is just a possibility of extra vibration.
