I just picked up the latest copy of Shutterbug magazine which has fairly extensive coverage of the latest PMA Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Two quotes are worth repeating:
"Don't' call 'em D-SLRs. In the future, all SLRs will be digital." Supposedly overheard at the show.
and
For the first time in the history of the PMA Show, not a single 35mm SLR camera was announced at PMA 2005. We do not expect any to be announced anytime soon. Or maybe ever again. --Editor
It's a little sad in many ways, but this is more than just handwriting on the wall.

I have been saying this for years. I have friend at work and he refuses (still) to believe.

HEY! I had one of those, just before changing to Canon EOS. Those old Minoltas were pretty cool to play with. ;)

Mine gave me many years of service... The only reason I changed allegiance to Canon is Minolta didn't make a DSLR with interchangeable lenses at the time. I had a little Vivitar 135 f/2.8 that was every bit as sharp as my current 135L, hated having to part with it.
