I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would show you what I have been capturing with my Canon SX110 IS.

WOW! I am loving the macro feature on this camera!

Window light only / Macro feature switched on / ISO 200 / f/2.8 / SS 1/100

ISO 80 / f/8.0 / ss 1/320

All of these shots are WAY out of my comfort zone because I am a portrait photographer, so I am over the moon with the results!

And I had a little bit of fun with one of my daughters :)

ISO 80 / f/4.0 / ss 1/500

I have a ton more but thought I would just share a few.
Thanks for looking :)

AlisonG - great shots - I have had the SX110 since Christmas and have been delighted with the results.

You mention you do portraits - I was about to ask if anyone has examples of portraits using the SX10 - but if you have any using the SX110 or SX10 - may we see some please?

Woolburr - great shot - love the duck!

I received my SX110 last September for my birthday. I love the image stabilization on this camera.

This was a hand held shot taken at Kom Ombo, Egypt.

Oakman58 - stunning photo - would make a great 11x14" if it has not been cropped much, maybe an 8x12" otherwise.

if I may say, perhaps run it through Noiseware Community edition and see if it cleans up the noise in the sky. I would display this if it was mine.

cheers,

Check the links in my sig. You may embed (hosted elsewhere) up to 8 images not to exceed 1024 pixels in any dimension, size immaterial. You may attach (uploaded to here) up to 2 images not to exceed 1024 pixels in any dimension, and no larger than 150 KB. The posted image is showing as 117 KB. Stripping EXIF data ("Save for web", for instance) will give you smaller file sizes without loss of detail.

I did file to web... and the first shot was 144kb... but when I uploaded on this forum it showed 478kb? So I went back and got the above just by chance but had to crop even more. I guess thats why it looks out of focus.....

Am I the only one playing along in this thread. If you don't have this camera I would highly recommend you get one!!!

Tested this camera to the limit last night. Wow! It did an amazing job!

I wanted to capture the movement of my kids playing by a BIG disco ball before a firework display began so I had my shutter fairly slow. I rested the camera on some bars.

You can just about see one of my kids, looking like a ghost because she was running so fast lol, in the centre of the frame.

It also gives you a sense of scale.

Apart from a re-size and watermark, this is SOOC.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2525/3931954723_a011d31f13.jpg

LOVE the silhouettes of the people watching the fireworks.

So colourful!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2470/3932870328_b6763fa2e2.jpg

Sometimes camera movement can give some pretty cool effects.
The camera movement made the other fireworks turn out like shooting stars. It was also nice to see one firework only just bursting here. I think that adds a little something to the image.

Well I'm not qualified to even compete with Dear Alison even on a friendly level - but I am proving to her at least that I own a SX110! [sorry for the wait Ali!]

This was done earlier in September, finally put it on my pc. 800 ISO I think.

another, ISO 400 I think

was walking through downtown when I inadvertently cut in front of the path of a wedding party. Bride & Groom freshly minted! Forget if I quickly turned this on to Auto from Manual as so not to miss the opportunity.

DANG!! We had a panasonic which we managed to kill the third one. Dropped on youth mission trip, sawdust from youth mission trip following year, third one I think got jealous when I got a DSLR and just died. A P&S is a must, so looked around a bit and this was the 'family' camera I chose. My wife is the main user of this camera, but has little time to make use of it (and would only use auto). Just got an S90 this weekend, which I am totaly in love with, but you make me see what a gem I already had (still too big to just throw in a pocket). Have to get out there and make this little baby feel part of the 'family':) Thanks for sharing. Awesome shots!

Thanks for the "hello." Yes, your camera should be fun. Sometimes folks loose track of that basic issue. And in my opinion, the SX-110 is a fun camera. Your latest postings show that quite nicely. Those are very clever photos.

Well, here is my SX-110 photo for the day. The is Arnold. He drops by each morning for a treat and to say hello. I sorry his head is out of sight as he preens himself in the sunshine. However, this photo nicely demonstrates the sharpness of the SX-110.

Have a great day.

Alison, those ROCK. I took part in a Capture Cincinnati photo contest this year. The guy who 'won' the cover took a picture of a wet drain grate on fountain square (the beginning of wkrp in cincinnati with the fountain) which had some colored lights under it. It was very abstract, and very beautiful.....which are what these are as well. Love the creative eye...and what you're getting out of this little camera.

Both excellent shots Alison. You're proof that little cameras can produce excellent results. How on earth did you get the depth of field on this? Zoomed out full and put in macro? Awesome shot!

The SX110 was capable of action shots and the WB was pretty good too, not giving the snow too much of a blue cast.
shot around 1/680th sec, f/5 if I recall.

The shimmering snow was taken on a morning with not a cloud in the sky. The sun was just below the neighbour's roof in this case. How it was snowing with no clouds I'm not sure... but it was beautiful to see.

nice. Our camera delivers the goods. I really want a G12 or s95 but I ain't giving up this capable sx110 yet - not while she seems to have so much life still in her....;)

I'd have to compare the models but I recall our sx110 has retained at least a few better specs/features vs the sx120 and sx130
