What mode in the creative zone should I be working with for regular indoor shots of people with no flash. No fast movement. I tried av at different settings. The pictures seem a tad blury and dark. Any help would be welcome.

Av at 1.8 and bump the ISO as needed to keep the shutter above 1/60. Works for me.

at 1.8 that lens is pretty soft compared to other aperatures, but i still like the outcome especially for people shots...here is an example wide open at 1/6 sec iso 400...its pretty soft but i still think it has good quality

and here is a 100% crop

its soft and grainy, but i got the shot handheld with almost no light and that's whats important...and bown up to 8x10 i'm sure it would look great

I just want to make sure I'm on the right zone at av? I'll try to bump up the iso and see what happens. I tried a few pix outside at soccer practice and they looked stunning.

Sometime I do have difficult time using F1.8 when I am shooting my daughter indoor since I will just be couple feets from her (if I want to get a close up shot) and the depth of field is really shadow. It is all depending on the situation. F2.8 seems to work better for me when I am trying to shoot close up shots with a decent depth of field.

I've shot bands at f/1.8, ISO100, at 1/30th of a second and have gotten some real nice results. I've since bucked that up to ISO 400 and 1/40 or 1/60, and have gotten even better results. And these are people who are moving around a lot...
