The magnification you get is similar to that from my stereo microscopes. A large part of the cost for these is for big objective lenses with low CA.
The acupuncture needles are used for poking around piles of crystals to find suitable candidates to zap with x-rays.

Just imagine using a 75-300mm with a reverse nifty! CA city! I wish I would have thought to convert to B&W, I took some pics of snowflakes at 6:1 during winter the they look red white & blue due to CA  I could see the CA through the viewfinder!!! Now that the "el cheapo" was replaced by the L I'll have to get a new reversing ring and see how the 70-200mm performs. I may even keep the 75-300mm just for 6:1 messing around considering I could only get like $100 for it.

Why would you do that? Then you can only get 2:1. It would be a LOT easier to put extension tubes on the 100mm. The 70-200 + 100mm would be massive and a hassle to use. If anything use a 50mm to get 4:1 :)

You know you can correct for CA.
I didn't have any CA issues with the 400mm and reversesed 16mm (11-16 tok) but teh dIffraction makes it pretty unusable at 25:1 lol.
I need to get a reversing ring to put the 90mm on the 400mm I think that is usable.

Apparently I know nothing about how this works. I would have assumed that longer focal lengths on both lenses would have increased the magnification. The only thing I own wider than my 85mm is a 24-105.

Magnification goes by focal length of lens on camera divided by focal length of reversed lens. So if I have a75-300mm set to 300mm and reverse a 50mm, 300/50 = 6, so I get about 6:1

Gotcha, is there any way to increase my DOF? Setting the smallest possible aperture on the lens on the camera didn't seem to do much for me. How would I got about changing the aperture on the reversed lens, perhaps by setting it on camera and removing the lens? Or wouldn't this make a significant difference anyway? I was trying to shoot grains of rice but they call came out fuzzy because my DOF was too shallow to cover the thickness of the grain.

Ok seriously, someone post something. I posted two of the last three so I'm out.
