Yep, that's exactly it. For those who don't recognize it, that's a Manfrotto ballhead with a quick release mount. The little brass lever locks the quick release in place.

If anyone cares, I shot that with my 35 1.8 mounted backwards, hand held with my finger setting the aperture and my Nikon SB800 speedllight controlled via CLS off camera left.
