I I originaly thought harmonica and then the inside of an electric guitar. Is it something I would find in my garage?

Nope, this is all mechanical and has no moving parts for what you see. It is part of a larger object that we use.

No to all the above. Remember, this is a macro photo - the "button" that you are referring to is less than 2mm in width.

It sort of is a type of gear, but I don't think you are seeing its true orientation in this shot. The "teeth" you see on the curved part are not cogs or the teeth of a gear.......Is that confusing enough?;)

What you see is the feed of a fountain pen that is under the nib - it acts to regulate the flow of ink. I don't have a picture of the actual pen photographed with me but here are some other fountain pen feeds.
