I thought I would upgrade the firmware this weekend on my 20D but when I go to download it from the Canon website it clicks and nothing happens. Is it down or am I doing something wrong? I shut down my firewall and disabled my Antivirus thinking they were blocking it but that did not help.

Please post the URL of the page you were trying to download from.

This is the URL of the download page;
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=10464

This is the URL of the file:
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=RedirectAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=10464&URL=http://consumer.usa.canon.com:80/ir/controller?act=SecondRedirectAct&nav=second&fileURL=http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/eos20d/eos20d_firmware-e.html&type=DNLD

When I click the file download URL the page refreshes but no file downloads, nor does any window pop up asking if I want to download or save a file.

Thanks, Mike

That page launches a pop-up window, which takes you to the download page. Disable your popup blockers, Firefox might block it by default - my copy did. IE should let you do it.

I had the same problem. After four or five tries I e-mailed Canon. They sent me a link and it worked perfect.
Good Luck

Thanks Tim. I disabled the popup blocker on my IE and it worked fine. I downloaded the file and will give it a shot in the morning.

Thanks, Mike

I just upgraded my firmware. The first time I tried it hung up at 94%, I let it set for 20 minutes and it stayed at 94%. I removed the battery for 5 seconds, the camera rebooted and the screen asked if I wanted to upgrade from 2.0 to 2.0 firmware [so it might have worked the first time but the screen was wrong], I went ahead and said yes since it hung up the first time. It went through without a hitch the second time.

Just curious - had you removed the lens when doing the upgrade, or was it on the camera?

I removed the lens when I did the update. I had read on the Forum where a few other people had the same thing happen, freezing at 94%.

It seems to work fine now.

I had the same exact problem, with the same results. Lens off, followed the directions to the letter. Seems to be ok after the second try.]
