I'm hoping someone can help me out. I recently purchased a Manfrotto 055XPROB. I must be technically challenged or something, because I cant figure out how to completely remove the centre column so I can insert is upside down. I can get it to flip horizontal, but cant figure out how to remove it. Can anyone help:oops:

Thanks.

I was reading a review here and saw a video on this. The center column has a tab plus a little button that you have to press in to get the center column out. Its shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF38sOYWqTE&fmt=18

It shouldn't be too hard, Just press the bottom spring loaded button of the column. Too bad the column can't be removed so the ball head to could be mounted directly to the tripod legs like the old models.

pio,

I've only seen one of the newer versions once "in the flesh", but from what I saw it appeared that the whole centre column/boss assembly could be removed in the same way that the older 055PROB version could.
