Nice capture! Must be nice to be able to stand back and still get close!
Did you hand hold it? I end up doing a lot of hand held shots, I always wondered if a macro IS would be useful?

dkord, thanks, I used a tripod and it took a long while to get a bee who would stay still long enuff, this was shot at 1/13s ISO 200 :) So you can imagine how still the bee was hehehe
You know, I never thought about IS on 180mm 3.5L, would be nice, but I don't think it would be as useful with the current IS technology. I think the movement when hand held at 180mm on a macro is very different in magnitude compare to when its on a 180mm regular telephoto lens. Just my opinion thou.

Jeeeeeezzzz, sweet photo, and sweet lens! I'd kill to get my hands on one of those beauties. Does it do well with regular shots of like, animals and stuff too?

Thanks Sparker1 :)
RbrtPtikLeoSeny yup it double as a very nice prime, used it on landscape (thou I haven't got a CPL for it, I should), people, animals... etc. Sharper than my 16-35. 24-70. 70-200 IS. I swear by moon and the stars in the sky... la la la :) hehehe

give this one some GM food and bingo !
you'll have lots bouncing and buzzing around your garden
(but will you have a lens big enough to capture them):evil:
it's a great shot :)

Fantasic shot and great patience! I would take the patience instead of the lens. What's the chances of a bee landing on the flower you were set up for with tripos etc!!
