I was extremely unimpressed with his answer. I haven't gone and re-read it in response to this post but when I read it an hour ago I felt like it was almost a complete dodge of the question.

Also note that Chuck is in the no filter group (unless needed for the environment or shot) of photographers (last question on the tech tips).

He didn't entirely dodge it: for one, he alluded to the fact that larger format sensors will soon appear in P&S's; that gives credence to the new G10 rumor that it will have an aps-c sized sensor. He also probably does not agree with the "more megapixels at all costs" approach, but since Canon Inc wants them he decided to recite the marketing drivel. The line that "image quality is paramount" is just the official company mantra.

Frankly, if Canon had the guts to put pro AF and improved sensor techniques in the 5D body and kept the pixel size the same I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Oh well, no sense in continuing to cry over the d700....

That is one of the main reasons why Canon is so heavily invested in color printing technology, as seen with the imagePROGRAF line of large-format photo printers, as well as EF lenses, CMOS image sensors and DIGIC image processors for EOS cameras.

My jargon meter just exploded. Thanks Chuck. That did nothing but throw out marketing terms that are useless without further elaborating on them. What the heck if the ImagePROGRAF?

ut I'll bet that the eventual solution to that request is going to be larger image sensors with high resolution rather than small sensors with reduced resolution.

Here's hoping that full-frame DSLRs become more affordable.

In his position, he probably gets free Ls. ;)

+1 on the 5D comment

Not more affordable, but probably the only thing on the market!
