View Full Version : WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: PART 173 - Statues

Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is "STATUES". Be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme -- the sky's the limit!

Here are the rules:

1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!

2. Post your shots at any time during the week.

3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)

An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY INDEX (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)

That's it! Have fun!

I looked out my front door one morning a few years back and saw my neighbor coming across the street with a statue on a dolly, headed for my house. I have never really been much for statuary ....

Well, he was in the process of moving, and I hated to see him go as we got on rather well and good neighbors are indeed hard to find.

So he rolls up with this statue and I'm like.. errrrhhmm , but he is really excited to install this in my yard somewhere. We wheel her around to the back and stick her in an area that faced my kitchen window. He is really happy and I think, what can it hurt.

Turns out this is Kuan Yin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guan_Yin) and I've gotten to know about her and now I am happy every time I see her in the garden. She has become a bit worse for wear, but so it goes..

joayne,
I love the price of that photo
Has she given your garden good luck? ???

I was looking for a statue type photo subject and the Statue of Liberty of course came to my mind first. However I then thought do I really want to drive a long long distance not to mention gas, wear and tear, and of course tolls not to mention ferry costs to get the photo? So then I thought a bit....., OK not much but I remembered this Liberty Copy which would work perfect for the topic of statue and here it is :)

John, looks like MS Liberty is also a bit worse for wear and tear! I love the color and the perspective, Well Done!!

All I can say about Kuan Yin, is that all the animals that come through my yard seem to like her and no plants have died near her, so I guess the luck is good in the garden :)

That hand puppet makes it.

So was hoping to head our today but raining and dull all day (this is Summer believe it or not!!) So instead I took a little snap of the mini shrine in my kitchen. Here we have Hindu, Buddhist and Taoist geezers all livin' in perfect harmony.

...As it should be !

On the way to dinner last night, I stopped at the Cancer Survivors Park.. It was 118 degrees out and just at dusk.. So, my stay was short, but I thought I would like to share the Statues.

Anyone with suggestions for the coming week?
I know it is summer and we are having a bit of low turn out but after 173 weeks of WWPW, we need to keep it going

I'll try to come up with a theme if no one makes any suggestions. :D

Hey Bug.. is that in Fremont, or does McMenamins have another establishment other than Dad Watsons?

I'm headed that way for lunch sometime next week , just too darn hot where I am right now.

Please join us for Part 174.. The theme is "T" whatever that might mean to you :lol:
