A friend of mine has asked if he can buy a few photos to use for his dad's personal website as banners/backrounds that he's making.

he doesn't want to use stock photos because they, well, look like stock and that's not what he wants.

since i have no idea about the costs of something like this, i told him i'd ask first.

so i'm hoping that someone could suggest how much it could be per photo or would you just recommend i get him to buy me some beer and wings and call it a deal?

thanks!

Friend's dad's personal website? Beer and wings would work for me. ;)

Royalty-free, licensed, or rights protected? Determine that first to help determine the cost. But if you don't already know the answer to that question and it's your friend's father for use on a personal website... beer and pizza sounds about right.

Microstock has really brought down the value of the images your friend's dad probably wants.

I agree; I'd consider a nice photo credit, maybe a link to my site, and a nice thank-you as more than adequate.
