Hi
I'm in need of a bit of advice. Can anyone give some advice on best items to get for starting out an (amateur) studio system?
In the first instance this would be a very basic table top and backdrop set up, but I sure could use some advice on the cheapest ways of doing this, eg lighting suggestions etc.
Many thanks

Suse, can you describe what kind of studio photography you intend to do?
Some shooters want to do only people. Some want to do only product photography. Everybody is different.
I set up a studio arrangement in my garage in the space that would be used for one large vehicle.

Have you seen the sticky topic at the top of the forum: Studio Lighting Set-Up Links –illustrations of real world examples (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=66140)
It contains some useful links.

Hi
Well, as I'm just starting out its going to be still life and abstract stuff - table top. More to start learning about lighting and getting the basics than any serious intent.
I didn't really want to start with a light cube which was one of my local photography shop suggestions, as I'd prefer more flexibility and learning opportunities....
Yes, I've had a look at the stick thread. But it seems to be more about set up than actual product recommendations, which I'm interested in.... I think I was hoping to hear what products more experienced photographers used for their first set ups and if they would change that now from experience...
