Any good suggestions for walking into the wilds where one has to make his own path through the tall grass (>1.7m) ?
There's this huge regional park close to where I live, the government haven't' built any facilities there yet, it's a huge region covered by very tall grasses, and forests. Lot's birds and not many people go there. I want to explore the region and make my own path to the center or wherever that may have rare birds and such. All tips are appreciated.

You did not say what you were hoping to shoot, but if you will look carefully you should not have to make much of a path of your own. "If you look" the local wildlife will have trails that in most instances are the best paths to follow. Drop down on your knee or lower near "edges" . That will give you a starting point, and make your going easier.
The animals will usually follow the path of least resistance, just remember some of them are "really short" animals, look from there prespective and you will see the paths that are already there, just hard to see this time of year with all the new growth.
Good luck and have fun!!

I am going to shoot birds, but the trees that have lots birds on are deep inside the region, I need some general tips on how to make my own path to walk through tall grass area. Any particular clothing I should bewearing to prevent being bite by bugs or stung by plants with sharp needles ? Anti-insect repellant a good idea ? Should I use a machete to chop down the vegations, or is that not so enivernmental friendly ?

I am working on my photography skills but spend a LOT of time in the out of doors. I personally have brush pants that I use for bird hunting that are carhart and then have heavy nylon cordura on the fronts of them. I can walk through black berry bushes with thorns all over and have little problems. I also wear good quality boots that go up my ankle. Often times you many not be able to see exactly what you are stepping on and I like the ankle support in case I step on a stick or stone the wrong way. I also walk slow and listen. Place your feet, do not "walk" through the grass. Animals will tolerate a lot if you ease toward them. Walk like a human in steady rythem to much and they are gone. I will walk for maybe 6 slow steps and then stop and listen for may 30 - 60 seconds. You will be surprised what you see and hear. Rick

Depending on where you live, be careful!
If I go walking into the wilderness at my cabin, I bring bear spray. I love nature, as long as it's not eating me.

Snakes!
Also, check over your lower extremities very carefully after being in grass for Ticks and Chiggers.
You don't want to pick up a case of Lyme Disease.
(Fixed the Spelling... "Lime" Disease is what you get from too many Coronas...)

Gotta watch for Gators here... they love the tall grass like that.

What part of the country (as well as what country) would help.
Double knee carhart Overalls is what I wear quite often, depending on time of year etc.. The machette and hacking through is stuff out of tarzan and is rarely going to do anything but wear you out unless you are trying to clear the way for a jeep to follow you,
KISS method is best, and use the natural countours and trails, they are there!!

I like to use Off Deep Woods for insect repellent. It seems to do the best when it comes to ticks and chiggers.

Canada, to be more specific, Vancouver area. I thought about wearing a lot of clothing, thick outfit, but it's way too hot under the sun. So far i have been walking through those tall grass in long jeans and T-shirt, the seeds from the grass are sticking all over my neck and arms. But the place is full of birds and small craters to not to visit. I will post some pictures when I get home.
