It was sunny with a good strong breeze on Sunday so I thought I'd give this a try as a change from my usual bird photography.

The full shoot can be seen at http://************/c3whur/Eastney/ there is plenty of inspiration for a couple of paintings so need to think about that for a future exhibition.

Some nice shots there mate, I imagine a few of them are cropped quite a bit and getting a good focus with all that spray around is not very easy. Last shot is probably the best out of the series in my mind.

Hi mate, I shoot this stuff a lot, and in my opinion shoot later in the day when the sun is lower...white spray can be an issue with focus too.

These are great, but I personally like to see shots with the kite in them. Obviously their not as close up, but we're talking about a sport that most of the impressive things they do are a fair bit off the water. You don't really show that! the 2 you have make the boarder look like he's only just off the water.

Good shots; I like the last one.
I also work on taking good pics of kitesurfing, and when trying to get the kite into the picture from most angles, focus becomes more of an issue since the kite and the rider are at the top and bottom of the frame and in trying to capture fast action with servo mode the pictures are focused on the background as opposed to the subjet.
Anyone have any suggestions for getting the "full picture" of kite and rider in action in focus?
Thanks,
Steve.

Small aperture for lots of DOF, but since both elements are so small I don't see a lot of merit in those shots, I think I only took a couple.

Most of the time not much value but when trying to capture a sequence shot, missing a photo in the middle throws away the whole sequence!
Attached is a recent example that was in focus thanks to the windsurfer in the centre. If not for the windsurfer, focus would usually be hit and miss throughout the sequence. Even in this one, the first picture in the sequence the kitesurfer was slightly out of focus.
