I took these with my newly purchased Sigma 70-200 2.8. I'm new to the SLR field so if anyone could comment and/or give me some advise on shooting bball - I'd appreciate it!

Nice shots. I also bought the sigma 70-200 for indoors sports, and it's great.

I use the sigma 70 200 at night at a dirt race track and love the lens but then I have not yet move in to the digital world. I am looking and studying the 20D for the move.
look at my web site to see shots... www.keithdickson.com
Most of my problems is in the lab since I no longer work in one and do my own processing I can't find any one with enough knowlage to process my work in the quality i know can be had. The only sport I don't shoot with it is basketball.

Left photo: the action/focal point is cut off.
Right photo: Not too much interesting about it. Too much bg info and no moment really going on.

Do not zoom too much. Crop.

-Shoot or crop tighter.
-Strive to capture peak action and facial expressions.
-Shoot from the baseline if you have the freedom to do so.
-Shoot from a crouched position.
- If possible (depending on the amount of ambient light) set aperture wide open, shutter at 1/400 to 1/500, and ISO at 1600.
-Use center point focus, burst mode, and AI Servo.
