Anyone here set parameter other than the defaults? I shoot raw and the default parameter 2 seems to be overly contrasty except under cloudy conditions, even with fairly even early morning light. What are you finding with your shoots?
Thanks,

if you shoot RAW the parameters don't matter
you set the contrast, saturation etc.. afterwards (I use PS CS for that)

I also shoot RAW, and generally use parameter 2 which has no in-camera processing at all, as I prefer to use Photoshop and/or various plugins for such processing.
I do, however, have a "Set" Parameter that backs-off only the contrast. I find it handy in scenes with overly bright / shiny white, or metalic objects which will typically go beyond the camera's dynamic range, and 'blow-out" the highlights, which are not retrievable with any software.

A couple of weeks ago I was in the home of an artist to shoot an oil painting that was going to be used on the cover of a Synagogue cookbook. I set the white balance to match the color temperature that was labeled on her display lamps (3200K), but I also found it necessary to use a custom parameter set and dial down the saturation a bit in order for her to be reasonably happy with the way the colors appeared on the computer. I probably could have done with a bit less contrast too, but I didn't think of it at the time. It wasn't a pre-planned parameter set, just an adjustment I made in real time as we tried to get the colors in the image to match the original.
The trouble was, and I pointed this out to her, that once we went across the hall to look at it on her computer, we were comparing the painting viewed under the halogen bulb in her office to the output of an uncalibrated LCD monitor. Oh well. At least she understood what I was saying, as she had recently been reading about monitor calibration.
