I accidently formated the CF (32MB that comes default with canon S45 digital camera). the format was done through the menu of the camera. it seems that the process took only about 2 seconds (there were only 7 photos on that CF). After the format I immediatly took the CF out of the camera, and havn´t used it since then.
Is a recovery of the photos possible? Can you recommend software or services that can do it. I´m on vacation now (on a trip) and your answer is very important to me.
thanks in advance, motti.

I suggest you do not use that card again. You may be S.O.L. though.
Use google and search out image recovery. There are lots of software and services available.

Motti,
I have a similar problem, in that I started using a CF card in the S45 without formatting it first. I can see the images on the camera, but the download software does not recognize them (says the camera is empty).
I searched for programs to recover the images, but they all require that the CF card appear in windows as a drive letter (i.e. "D:"). Since I don't have a card reader (camera only, and it doesn't map a drive letter to the card), I can't get the files. However, if YOU have a card reader, I found some software that says it can recover them.

Hope this helps. And, if you figure out the problem, please share it back here in case I run into the same thing! Best of luck.
