I went on an old fashioned "Texture Study" shoot this weekend and got some nice shots for B&W prints. I wont bore you all with the shots, but there was one in particular that I really like. Question is, does anyone else? Am I just crazy? Is it actually a boring shot and I just cant see it? You tell me....

It's a close up shot that I took after taking this shot...

I think the close-up image might be made a little stronger if the grid pattern were rotated to make it absolutely square to the framing of the shot--that way, the punched-out hole would be emphasised as a visual disruption in an otherwise regular field.

for the second one i would have waited for an overcast day to avoid the glare coming in from the left. i would prefer an even tone. the first one is awesome though.
nice study!

Thanks everyone. Good feedback to have. I have filed it into my mental rolodex!

Very nice. I'm a great fan of close up shots. Makes mundane objects mysterious.

I really like the first one. Something about capturing rust on film. Not boring (but I certainly won't lose any sleep tonight thinking about it). I wonder what the shot would look like at a very low angle to the diamond plate with a low light and long shadows....
