I had the opportunity to be part of the HardRock 100 race last week as part of the Communications Team. There were 140 people dedicated to running 100 miles in the Colorado Rockies starting in Silverton and running a pre-defined course winding up back Silverton in 48 hours or less.
The first picture is our camp or the first check-in station we our elevation is 10,380 feet. The second picture is to see if you can spot the runner.
They came down the mountain to the right and top of the water falls and then down switch backs until they arrived at our site. The distance from the start to our camp is 9.5 miles.
Personally I think these folks are crazy. The course varied in elevation from 9200 to 14,100 ft.
As a note the owner of Dewalt Tools has ran this race for 13 years and he ran it again this year at the young age of 73..
