Well I spent some time doing a photoshoot with Honeypie for mothers day.
I have lots to show but I need your opinion on this one.

Which one is better and why?

I like the left one because it is more balanced and has better expression. It is slightly darkish.

I prefer the right one - lighting has it popping better

I like the left one better. does she ever smile thoug? I have never seen a pic of her smiling! I think maybe if you lighten the left one up just a tad in PS it would be the better shot.

I agree. No offense, but I'm sure she has a beautiful smile. Leave the pouting to Kelly LaBroch and Angelena Jolie.;)

Her smiles in photos look too fake. I have to catch her smiling when she is not paying attention.

left one for the expression.

I think she looks a little amused. Just a little.

Left one, but adjust the brightness so it looks like the right one :D

Best regards,
Andy

The left is neutral but underexposed. The right has a yellow color cast. Did you diffuse the flash at all? If not, that would help. If so, you were probably a tad close. Or was this a reflector? I liket he catch light in the right eye. It adds life to the image. Spark.

A quick curves adjustment would fix the yellow cast. Again, she is a beautiful lady. Keep on shooting and posting.

I like the Left one for these same reasons, even though it's a bit dark.

I like the left one. Why not get her away from distracting backgrounds and foregrounds like the trees and really focus on a headshot? She is beautiful, but I to would like to see a smile! Use your zoom and AV to really blur the background to make her pop. All MO of course.

I like the expression in the left picture better, but I would choose the right mainly because the lighting is better making the picture present better overall.

In the left picture, the bit of hair covering her right eye is rather annoying, it wouldn’t be so bothersome accept for the fact that her left eye is inset more into the shadow of her nose so that making both sort of obscured from view.

I agree - right one has yellow cast. Left is good but just slightly underexposed.

I like your work a lot. I really admire your ability to display your work knowing you have room to grow still. Some of the feedback I have read on your posts has been pretty rough, yet you still keep plugging away.

I like the second one more because of the glowyness of it. Yes, I know that is probably not a word :D.

Please keep posting, I use the feedback you get to help me learn!!!

[edit] despite what some others have said in the past I think your wife is very pretty for what it is worth. Sometimes smiles are over rated. It all depends on what the artist is trying to get across to the viewer.
