Ok Everyone --

I have to ask and I'm hoping you can help me understand...why do so many photographer websites go with Flash?

Is there a specific reason or is it just what everyone is doing?

I'm looking to create a website, but Flash is something I would have to learn...

thanks --
Jen

I have a flash website for one reason; It looks good.

There are no advantages of having it over a HTML website -- Actually, most would say there is less. They dont do as well on search engines as HTML / CSS do.

But I know when looking at websites if I come across a boring HTML website compared to an up-to-date, good looking Flash website -- The moving little toggles and what not will probably keep me there longer simply because it looks more professional, IMO at least.

So if I can have my customers stay on my website a little longer simply because they like everything that moves and looks good, why not?

Flash is one of many ways to get something done. That's all.

I had a flash site made using wix

but my clients and viewers found it extremely buggy and slow to use

And wix is a blacklisted site for most education/government and work place servers...so I lose a great deal of viewers who view me from work/school/government PCs

I found HTML to be a lot faster, more easy to update, more reliable browsing experience and best of all...600 unique visitors a day.

Can't beat that traffic...

Developers don't like it because it is generally out of standards and isn't good for SEOs. However, if you want to be flashy, go with Flash.
