taking maternity photos

hello im very new to photography and have a Rebel XSI and a very good friend of mine would like me to take some pictures of her belly i have no clue on what setting to use or anything can someone please givem e some tip on how to make these photos come out good

Where are you planning to shoot? Outside...in a house? Your lighting is going to depend on how you shoot. If its your first try...try an outdoor shoot, in the shade so you don't have any harsh lighting, use "P" mode like Chris suggests and have fun. Lots to learn, so every shoot is one step closer!
