I went to this park in Houston. There was a group of students having a picnic there. They all wore a red school shirt. Then i saw this woodpecker flying back and forth, like teasing the kids on the ground. Does woodpecker like red in general? Or perhaps a really playful Woody. ;)

The prices were crazy! Those L sellers were making a fortune on eBay. Geeezzzz..... I really need to reconsider my career.;)
Thanks Dan. They were shot with my 2nd 100-300mm. It does perform better than the 1st one i got from B&H. I'm happy with this one. I think i'll keep this and sell the 1st one since I won't get my L for quite a long time.

Beautiful! Nice pics, CFC.
That appears to be a red-headed woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus), from the pictures I found. Never seen one IRL.

Tupe, Jeff, thanks for the kind words.
This was the 1st time i saw a red-headed woodpecker too. I saw another one the other day but it was so different from this one. It's a shame i did not know the name, and did not take a shot of it fast enough.

I like the second one. Not only does it show the bird, but it is artistic also.
