Can I use a teleconverter for a Canon 100-300mm USM f4.5-f5.6, if so what do I need to get and does it have to be a Canon. My money is running short.

I cant answer your question but i saw a tamron teleconverter thats half the price of a canon, Works on ef lenses

Look at the Kenko Pro 300 1.4x ... good build, high quality glass and does a great job at half the price.

Yes you can.
However what the previous posters seem to have missed is that you CANNOT use the Canon Extenders on that lens anyway - they simply don't fit physically.
So take your pick from the other makers. Sorry but I can't recommend one over another as I only use the Canon Extenders on Canon L lenses.
