I am interested in macro photography and was looking at this lens as a good start. All the reviews I have read have been mostly positive, but I wanted to see example photos. I would be using it on a 1D MKII. Does anyone here have some sample of both macro and otherwise for the Canon Telephoto EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro?

Tim, thank you for posting those photos. They're very good. I especially like the way you captured the water drops. It seems that this lens is very capable.
Everyone, please, keep the photos coming!

If you are so inclined, the entire first page and the three photos at the top of the second page are all taken with that lens, just follow the link in my sig.
I would upload them here, but I have yet to figure out how to do that, love it if someone would PM this poor newbie and give me some hints as to the procedure.

Here's a link with more photos too http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/browse?id=12772There are some very nice photos there, but that photosig.com site is absolutely irritating and unbelievably annoying with those advertisements.

Ta - wasn't hard to do, just a bowl of water, blue plastic, tinfoil, tripod, camera, macro lens, and a few lights. Oh wait, maybe it's not so easy ;)

Here's an indoor macro with the Canon 10D, flash bounced to umbrella, + 100mm macro. 100+ year-old woman's art nouveau hatpin with Tiffany type glass and behive. More detail than I could see with naked eye.

This hatpin was about 28cm diameter. Just buy the damn lens already! J.

Wow!
There are some outstanding shots in this thread.
I have this lens as well. In fact it's my only lens.

OK, after over a week of rain I finally had a chance to go outside with this new lens yesterday. Here's three of the best 60 I took goofin with the bees.
Please critique! Have I done anything right? Wrong? Room for improvement?

Since you asked... The color rendition is spot on, but you need more DoF. Use a smaller f/stop, say f/8 through f/11. Bounced flash if you have to, to achieve that. J.

Agreed more DOF needed. Next time see if you can get one of the bee smiling ;)
