Question to the Mods or Admins

Hello Guys...

I have a photo forum and I'm using the same platform (vBulletin) but it's not as fast as this forum. Did you guys did something to it to make it fast to navigate?...

My guess is that it is all in the servers and web hosting but I'm sure Pekka will be along in due course to tell you.

Mike's right.

Pekka has full control over the servers and has tweaked around with the hardware and software to get things running as smoothly as can be.

And it needs lots of horsepower to do that as well.

Tweaked indexes, installed Shinx etc. Vbulletin runs forum of this size very badly by default, and even then has lots of problem areas. Having a good server helps, too, and tweaking it for best performance is a lifelong project, I have learned a trick or two during years. RAM is essential for MySQL and disk speed is second (we have 15K rpm SAS-SCSI). I'll be upgrading even more powerful main server by the end of the year, but this one has served well so far.

Thanks for the info... I can't do much with the server because my forum is in godaddy. Maybe some day we'll have our own server and then we can tweak it
