On the first one, it is certainly closs up. THe details are neat, but it just doesn't have much pop (IMO). Is it a fly?

I'm not really sure what you were going for on the 2nd one. I like the q-tips fine, but I think you could possibly get creative on the cropping. Crop close to either end to really change the look. You could get even more creative and adjust the colors contrast, etc. You could turn it into something really artsy to give it more punch.

Keep shooting. Maybe if you post more of what you were trying to achieve, folks can tell you if you did it or how to accomplish it.

Well miklemuk, I think your equipment is pretty impresive (at list than mine :) ) since those are pretty close shots :). And sharp. I like the fly head.

Maybe you could say something about the equipment used.

I really like the Q-tip photo. However i think it couldnt be improved with a bit of color correction in ps. Not that the blueish tone is bad, but i think it would be intresting to play with it a bit and see what the outcome is.

I like the qtip part of the qtip shot, but I would want to see it with a solid background - and maybe a mix of plastic q-tips and paper ones.
