Hi everyone...I'm new to the board and Zoombrowser drives me nuts! I've been through a few of the other threads, so I've seen some of the suggested alternatives (BreezeBrowser, card readers, etc.) but I'm wondering if any of those are really necessary. I am very much an amateur at this point and have no time to touch up photos or use any of ZB's other capabilities. I simply want to get my photos from my camera to my hard drive and use ACDSee to view them. ZB apparently has several different programs associated with it - together they take up in excess of 4gb of space (!) that I could really use at this point.
So, my first question is: What will happen if I simply uninstall ZB? Will Windows XP still detect my camera? If so, will I still be able to use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard to download from the camera as I do now?
Just in case this works differently for some people / different cameras, I want to be clear: When my camera is detected, a window pops up asking which program I want to launch (ZB, Microsoft Picture It (both ZB and MPI are listed twice for some reason), MS Scanner and Camera Wizard, and MS Word).
The Canon CD also installed PhotoImpression 4, which I've never used and would love to get rid of if I don't need it.
I'm trying to free up disk space and getting rid of ZB would make my day, especially if I don't need to buy other software or card-readers.
