When I started photography I had and still have a 20D. My widfe was wanting her own camera and I bought her a G10. i plan on getting a LX3 as an everyday camera. I haven't done much photography in about 4 years and last night I went to play with the G10 and It seems that I have forgotten everything. I still can not understand why I stopped. I mean I started having children and never took advantage of my new learned skills. I am actullay very upset with myself but me kids are still yound and I too want to get back into it. I have mispalced my photgraphy books so I have nothing for a reference.
What is y'alls recommendations on getting back into the sport?

Simple, go take photos. The 20D is a fine camera, and it's a good one to get back into it. Just shoot shoot shoot, then start to pay attention to the details.

You might also start studying other's pics of kids, and you might as well start with the best. Schmoelzel rocks! Also if I were in your shoes I would get a nice fast prime to go with the 20d, like the sigma 50 1.4 or canon 85 1.8 if you don't already have something like that. Well to be honest I would go full frame and get the 85 1.2:): http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=95468

Welcome back! Same thing happened with me but I took almost ten years off. When I stopped I was shooting with a Nikon FG, 35mm, film. I just recently got a 350D in a barter and there are a lot more features or "functions" on this than eve my old Olympus OM4t!
Coming from DSLR back to DSLR should be much smoother, s'like ridin' a bicycle, for the most part.
A few things might have popped up since you were last a "tog",...the term "tog" being one.

I have to actually add a caveat to the "just go abs shoot" advice. Just shooting without purpose or understanding (in this case memory) the mechanics of the settings and what they mean is a recipe for frustration. Get a book on your camera (or at least get one from the library), preferably one that will refresh your memory on exposure settings recommneded for different situations.
