In Europe, when someone buy's a still camera, the video recording time is
limited to 15 minutes due to some stupid unknown, old regulations.

If I would buy a still camera in Europe could I change or update the firmware
of a American model of the same type of camera, and make the recording
time of the video longer?

Does someone has any other possibility to make the video recording time
longer on still camera's sold in Europe?

Thanks.

You could have a look at CHDK
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

I am not sure if it does what you want, but you can have a look
and see

Are you sure it's not done by the manufacturer to prevent overheating the sensor?

Which camera is this? The specs at the Canon UK or Ireland sites for the SX1, for instance, match those of the US model (4 GB or 30 min HD/60 min SD). Most of the other current models also have those same limits (HD only where the camera supports HD).

Hello Jon,

You are right. It is my mistake, sorry.

It was not a Canon camera.

Thanks to all for the answers.

Good luck.
