I'd like to have this http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=2150

probably a little smaller than the 200 1.8, with image stabilization and latest generation AF. Of course it IS still $4500... ouch.

I read in the specs :

Lens construction: 13 elements in 19 groups

Shouldn't it be 19 elements in 13 groups instead?

Nice piece of glass, though. And a cheapo for sure!

If only it was a Canon! Then all the guests at weddings who also shoot with 20D's would drop their jaws when they saw this baby.

But then, what the heck would I carry that around all day at a wedding for? Not the kind of thing you leave sitting around in a bag!!!! :(

No, there are 6 groups without any glass in them at all. Noink always does things a bit differently.

LMAO !!! :D
Either that, or they have certain elements in more than one group, it's just a matter of how you look at it :-P

element 1 + 2 = group 1
element 2 + 3 = group 2
element 1 + 2 + 3 = group 3
.
.
.
... and so on :p

I get it! A group can be either a group of lenses, or a group of groups!! Very imaginative on their part.

I think the 200 f/1.8 is about that weight.

This lens has been out for a little while now-i think they released it in time for the last olympics.
It's a stunningly good lens !

Did you know that nikon has had a 200/2 lens for years? (decades i think)
They also have a 300/2 and several other unbelievable lenses!!

That's the sort of thought that makes a wildlife photographer break out in a cold sweat!
